Lauren Cohan, the actress best known for playing farmer's daughter Maggie Greene on AMC's zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead, has got a new gig, sort of. Cohan has reportedly nabbed a guest spot on an episode of 'Law & Order: SVU.'
As per THR, Cohan will play a central role in the procedural drama's episode -- she'll appear as a sports reporter who accuses a cameraman of rape and then learns that she's pregnant. The episode will apparently be a much-delayed take on last year's "legitimate rape" controversy, in which Senate nominee Todd Akin remarked that actual rape did not yield pregnancy. It's unknown as of yet how the episode will handle the controversy, but it already feels pretty dated to me.
In any case, Walking Dead fans are probably less concerned about the 'Law & Order' storyline and more about what this means for Cohan's Walking Dead character. The short answer: nothing much. The Walking Dead season 3 has already wrapped filming, meaning that Cohan's guest role gives no indication on whether or not Maggie makes it out of The Walking Dead season 3 alive. My money is that she does, by the way, but you've got to have real confidence to make bets about The Walking Dead.
The episode will reportedly air late next month, as The Walking Dead's third season wraps up.
