Actor Kirk Ward is taking the torch from Woody Harrelson, and will star as the lead in the Amazon Studios comedy pilot for “Zombieland”. Ward will be playing the role of group leader and all around cool guy Tallahassee. Ward has appeared in such films as “The Island” and “Forrest Gump” as well as a handful of television shows, but has yet to have a leading role.
With the addition of Ward, all of the major roles for the television show have now been filled. The project, which is being produced by Sony TV, has cast some relatively unknown names for the roles of Columbus (Tyler Ross) and Little Rock (Izabela Vidovic) and Wichita (Maiara Walsh).
When “Zombieland” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernik originally conceived “Zombieland” for a TV show (before it even became a film) they had Ward in mind for the role of Tallahassee. The pair met the actor while shooting the Spike TV series “Invasion Iowa” and instantly pegged him for the role. Reese and Wernik will be penning the script for the Amazon pilot as well.
The pilot will be a continuation of the film, catching up with the survivors as the unlikely group bands together to battle the zombie apocalypse.
