Primetime Ratings, Tuesday, 2/19/13

As has become usual, CBS easily won the night. The win came even in spite of the fact that both NCIS and its LA spin-off dropped, the former dropping 5%, the latter 13%. Meanwhile, Vegas remained steady with its recent numbers. On ABC, The Taste showed some signs of life, rising 7%. Although The Bachelor fell 4%. The season premiere of the revamped Body of Proof was dead on arrival, diving 45% from its last season premiere, and 37% from its last finale. Needless to say, this marks a series low for the medical drama.

FOX comedies Raising Hope, New Girl, and the Mindy Project all took hits, with NG's and MP's being double digit losses. Betty White's Off Their Rockers continues to do pretty poorly for NBC, but the rest of the network's Tuesday line-up makes that show look downright successful. Go On fell to a 1.1 demo. The New Normal posted a 1.0. The worst news was for Smash, which dropped 25% to another new series low of 0.9. Make no mistake, Smash is done. It may finish the season, but it won't be coming back for a third production.

The night wasn't kind to the CW either. Hart of Dixie fell 17%. Things got much worse with the debut of dark drama Cult, which drew a pathetic 0.3 demo and less than a million viewers. To put that in perspective, the last few episodes of already canceled drama Emily Owens M.D. did better in every respect. Unless Cult rises to at least an 0.5 next week (not likely, as shows rarely go up from their premieres), this will join Do No Harm and The Job in the "two and done" graveyard for 2013 TV.
