It seems to have traveled under the radar so far, but IFC is in fact premiering a brand new animated comedy series on Friday night. Created by former South Park director and producer Ryan Quincy, "Out There" follows the odd trials and strange tribulations encountered by socially awkward high school students Chad (Quincy himself) and Chris (Justin Roiland). Together, the two best friends spend their days wandering their small home town of Halford, and pining for the day when they finally leave that odd nexus between childhood and adulthood known as adolescence.
The odd sensibilities of Out There should blend nicely with existing IFC comedies Portlandia and Bullet In The Face. The new series also continues Portlandia's tradition of varied and talented guest stars, including Ellen Page, Jason Schwartzmann, Sarah Silverman, and Selma Blair in season one alone. In addition, the rest of the regular voice cast is filled with notable names like Kate Micucci (Scrubs, Raising Hope), John DiMaggio (Futurama), Megan Mullally (Will & Grace), Pamela Adlon (King of the Hill, Californication), Linda Cardellini (Freaks & Geeks), and Portandia's own Fred Armisen. That's a lot of talent right there.
