Jane Lynch has become one of the most distinctive actresses working today. Be it on 'Glee,' where she stars as nasty cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, or just hearing her voice in a film such as "Wreck-It Ralph," you immediately know what you are getting - someone sassy who takes no crap.
Now Lynch is preparing to step into a new role - Broadway headliner. The actress will be taking off her track suit for a while, to play the iconic villain of Annie, Miss Hannigan. She will be replacing Katie Finnernan, a two-time Tony winner. Somehow, I can see Lynch as a oprhanage matron who pushes people as hard as it takes to get what she wants.
"I'm so thrilled I can't see straight," Lynch said. "It's a preposterous fantasy come true."
The play has received glowing reviews from critics, with Hollywood Reporter rep...uhh....writer David Rooney saying that it was "a winning presentation of an unapologetically sentimental show."
Awesome for Lynch. Love her or hate her, she is a true success story, working for decades in acting before really getting a big break. Just look at her IMDB page - if you have a few hours to spare. I think she is going to do great as Hannigan and win some awards.
