Set in a trendy Manhattan bar, ABC's Mixology is a high-concept single-camera comedy pilot from The Hangover writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore that chronicles the exploits of five men and five women looking for love over the course of one night. So far, the project has cast seven of its ten sexy lead singles.
666 Park Avenue regular Mercedes Masöhn returns to ABC in the role of beautiful ballbuster Maya, a former jock turned sports attorney. In the pilot episode of 666 Park Ave., Masöhn's character was memorably crushed by an elevator door. Before that, the stunning Swedish-born actress co-starred on FOX's Bones spinoff The Finder and appeared on NBC's Chuck.
Blake Lee, who had a recurring role on NBC's Parks and Recreation as April's indifferent boyfriend-with-a-boyfriend Derek, will play the opposite of that character as a clean-cut, nice-guy accountant named Tom. He is just coming out of a long-term relationship after being dumped by his girlfriend.
Andrew Santino, who guest-starred in an episode of Parks and Rec's Thursday night companion The Office this season, will play Tom's brutally honest best friend from college, Bruce. Previously, Santino starred in the webseries Crafty.
Best known for her recurring role as the spoiled Sugar Motta on FOX's Glee, Vanessa Lengies has been tapped to play Kacey, a hyper-positive personal trainer who moonlights as a waitress. The Canadian actress appeared in a few productions in her native country, including the 1999 revival of children's ghost-story anthology Are You Afraid of the Dark?, before breaking out on NBC's American Dreams.
Apparently, they're not all exactly single. The adorable Kate Simses will play Liv, the bright yet deeply indecisive fiancee of a lovably boring investment banker. Described as "alt-cute," Liv is beginning to have second thoughts about her commitment. Simses has appeared in several films and TV shows, most recently a guest role on TBS comedy Wedding Band.
Adam Campbell of the 2009 CBS miniseries Harper's Island has landed the role of Ron, a former Internet hotshot now buried in a mountain of debt after his startup business crashed. Campbell also guested on Wedding Band, as well as FOX's Touch, recently.
Rounding out the cast members signed so far, Craig Frank is on board as Cal, the guy who is simultaneously the hottest and dumbest dude in the room. In addition to bit parts on CBS's 2 Broke Girls and NBC's Up All Night, Frank appeared in several episodes of zombie webseries 8.13.
Basically, this project sounds like 24 in a nightclub with fewer hours and less torture. Possibly. They've definitely selected a restaurant-quality assortment of attractive actresses to fill out the cast, at least. Is that enough to make it on the air?
