Funnyman Tyler Labine has been cast as the brother of Rupert Grint's character on the upcoming CBS pilot 'Super Clyde.'
'Super Clyde' is a project from Greg Garcia ('Raising Hope') about a meek, unassuming fast food worker (Grint) who decides to become a super hero. Labine will play the main character's older brother, who will hopefully do his best to talk some sense into the little scamp.
Labine, from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, has starred in a slew of television projects over the past few years; unfortunately, each of them were rather short-lived. He starred as the character Sock on 'Reaper,' the role most American fans know him from (Canadians know him from 'Breaker High,' naturally), even though 'Reaper' only lasted for thirty-one episodes. After 'Reaper' came 'Sons of Tuscon,' a series which survived for thirteen episodes--and ditto for his follow-up 'Mad Love' (where he starred opposite Jason Biggs). Then, most recently came this year's 'Animal Practice,' which made it through a total of nine episodes before it was cancelled. Not the most stellar track record.
However! Labine himself was never the problem when it came to these failed series. The lovable goofball proved his comedic chops in the criminally-underrated comedy feature 'Tucker and Dale vs Evil' which, if you haven't seen, you should go and track down right away. So, hopefully, Garcia's 'Super Clyde' will snap Labine's losing streak.
The inclusion of fan-favorite Rupert Grint is sure to add buzz to the project. Grint, of the 'Harry Potter' franchise of feature films, hails from Hertfordshire, England, joining the Canadian Labine to play American brothers. Since the close of the 'Potter' franchise Grint has worked steadily, with four feature films coming down the chute in the next couple of years. His comedic abilities remain somewhat unproven, despite Ron's bumbling throughout the 'Potter' flicks--working with a veteran like Labine is sure to help him out on his first pilot.
