“Camp” has found a new lead.
Young Australian actor Tom Green (not to be confused with the star of “Freddy Got Fingered,” thankfully) will appear in the NBC 10- episode summer series from creators Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff, BermanBraun and Universal TV.
Green will play Kip, an indie rock and documentary films- loving adorable loner, who totally hates other people.
Green starred in “Dance Academy,” an Australian drama series shown on TeenNick in the United States.
“Camp,” which is set for this summer, is expected to be like “Meatballs” and “Dazed and Confused.” It is set at Little Hawk Family Camp. Parents relax with a cocktail while the kiddies cause trouble and find romantic entanglements.
"In our desire to make summer an exciting place at NBC along with our signature unscripted shows like 'America's Got Talent,' 'The Voice' and 'American Ninja Warrior,' we developed a scripted dramedy we love with BermanBraun that has rich and dysfunctional characters in that great setting where millions of families and young people go each summer: camp,” Jennifer Salke, NBC president of entertainment, said in a release.
Production on camp will begin in March in Australia.
Green is represented by WME, Luber Roklin and Australia’s RGM.
