While there's still a possibility that CBS' procedural drama 'CSI: NY' may return for a tenth season, Hill Harper won't be along for the ride; Harper has joined the cast of USA Network's 'Covert Affairs' as a series regular.
'Covert Affairs' is presently shooting its fourth season in Toronto, Canada and Harper will be joining series stars Piper Perabo, Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher. Harper is a fan of 'Covert Affairs' and elected to join the successful series in progress rather than take any pilot opportunities. Harper shares a bond with 'Covert Affairs' creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord, as all three attended Brown University.
The fourth season of 'Covert Affairs' is slated for sixteen episodes and will somewhat alter the status quo of the show: it picks up after CIA operative Annie (Perabo) and her longtime best friend and blind CIA tech-op Auggie (Gorham) finally acknowledge their romantic feelings for one another. Things get complicated at the agency, as Annie aligns with Henry Wilcox (recurring guest star Gregory Itzin) in a dangerous, covert mission involving Arthur (Gallagher) and Auggie that has potentially scandalous consequences for the CIA.
So how does Harper fit in? He will play an ambitious CIA station chief based in Latin America who is plotting his way into a bigger position back in Washington. To accomplish this, Harper's character seeks Annie and Auggie’s help, but his questionable actions and underhanded dealings cause the pair to doubt his intentions.
As for Harper's present series, 'CSI: NY,' the forecast is looking grim. The upcoming ninth season finale could very well double as a series finale, given the lack of support for another season from CBS.
