Lady Van Helsing, the floor is yours.
ABC is developing a new monster drama called Gothica, which it describes as a "sexy" soap opera set in the present day. However, this story mixes the legends of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Jekyll and Hyde, and others, into its plot.
Janet Montgomery, who stared in CBS' Made in Jersey for a hiccup (a whole two episodes), has landed the role of Grace Van Helsing, the partner to Chris Egan's (Kings) Dorian Gray and ex-girlfriend to Victor Frankenstein (Tom Ellis, best known for his turn on EastEnders), who still holds out hope that one day they can be together again.
The character of Van Helsing is edge, coming from a well-known publishing family. She has her own quest that drives her actions, as she tries to find out the truth about the deaths of her beloved parents.
The script is being written by Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), who will also executive produce the pilot with Mark Gordon of the Mark Gordon Company. Anand Tucker will direct the pilot, which is shooting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Montgomery has also appeared in Entourage and Human Target.
Does this sound like a good idea to anyone? This sounds like the lamest pilot I have heard about this pilot season, which is saying something.
