Lifetime has tapped the star of “Clueless” for a drama pilot.
Alicia Silverstone will play the lead in “HR.”
Lifetime originally ordered the pilot last summer, but the pickup was contingent on the casting of the lead. Now with Silverstone signed on, “HR” is cleared for production.
“HR” is about an uptight director of human resources (played by Silverstone) for a global company who gets a head injury changes her worldview.
“HR” was ordered along with “Cinnamon Girl,” “The Secret Lives of Wives” and “Witches of East End.” “Witches of East End” went to series, and “Cinnamon Girl” and “The Secret Lives of Wives” were passed on.
“HR” is exec produced by Aaron Kaplan from Kapital Entertainment, and co- exec produced by writer Glenn Porter (“I Melt With You”) and Michael Lohmann. He originally developed the show as a spec.
Kaplan has five other broadcast pilots he is shepherding. “Terminales,” his ABC Family pilot, is close to a series pickup, and Nick at Nite’s “Instant Mom” is waiting to hear back.
Silverstone recently recurred on “Suburgatory” on ABC. She has recently appeared in features “Butter” and “Vamps.”
Silverstone is represented by UTA and Untitled.
