A former “Grey’s Anatomy” actress has been tapped for a plane crash comedy on NBC. What could be funnier than that?!

Chyler Leigh will star in “Holding Patterns,” a multicamera ensemble comedy from Justin Spitzer (“The Office”).
“Holding Patterns” shows a group of friends who survived a plane crash that completely altered their lives.
Leah (played by Leigh) is a witty, sarcastic slacker who moves from one dead- end job to another. She lives in a duplex in Minneapolis with her best friends Griffin and Sabrina.
Spitzer will write the comedy from Universal Television and he, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan will exec produce. The show has yet to be ordered to series.
Leigh’s character Lexie on “Grey’s Anatomy” was killed off less than a year ago in, you guessed it, a plane crash. Leigh later claimed she had chosen to leave the show months before the storyline that involved her death had been written. She appeared in 113 episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” from 2007- 2012.
Leigh has appeared on “The Practice,” “Girls Club” and “That ‘80s Show” (as a spikey- haired punk).
Leigh is represented by UTA, Burstein Co. and Stone Meyer.
