Sky One's action adventure series 'Sinbad' has been axed after just one series, the channel has confirmed.

The 12 part series starring TV newcomer, Elliot Knight as the adventurous hero, made its début last summer. It has since been sold to a number of different countries including the US. The broadcasters felt that the “story has now been told”

Sky said in a statement: “As a broad, family entertainment channel, Sinbad was the perfect drama to showcase Sky One's ambitions for long-running, blockbuster series, we were thrilled with the cast and production team, however we feel that Sinbad's story has now been told.”

The broadcaster has said they were developing a number of exciting new projects and would announce details of these in due course

This series saw Sinbad flee his home town after unwittingly causing the death of his brother and falling under a curse as a result.

His adventures continued aboard The Providence, a ship with a colourful crew of characters – as he attempts to shake off the curse.

The show has seen a supporting cast include Naveen Andrews ('Lost'), Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter series) and Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo as well as Timothy Spall ('Blandings') and Mathew Horne ('Gavin and Stacey') guest star in the series.

Shall we have a reality tv show executing tv executives?  Last one is allowed to live on a desert island

I enjoyed the show, and looked forward to it every Saturday night... I'm sorry it is going off after just one season. I'll miss it.

@Anonypuss, the same here. That maybe because I don't have Sky. I will check it out now though.

@The Cthulhu, it does look like a decent show. I will take your word for it that it is watchable.

Decent show in the vein of Merlin.  Certainly watchable and enjoyable but nothing special.
