CW moves 'Cult' to Friday nights

A CW show is on the chopping block after not gaining even a “Cult” following.

The 9 p.m. Tuesday slot will be filled with encore episodes of various CW series, beginning with “Beauty and the Beast” March 5.

“Cult” had an underwhelming 0.3 rating in adults 18- 49 last week, then duplicated that number Tuesday night.

The series follows investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (played by Matt Davis) searching for his missing brother. In the process, he uncovers TV show “Cult’s” dark underworld, and its obsessive fans.

“Cult” was originally written for the 2005- 06 development season and it landed a pilot order at the WB, but after the UPN/ WB merger the pilot was never produced. Six year later an updated version got a pilot order at the CW and went to series, though it may not last much longer.

Rockne S. O’Bannon (“Farscape,” “V”), Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein exec produce. The series also stars Jessica Lucas (“Melrose Place”), Alona Tal (“College,” “Supernatural”) and Robert Knepper (“Prison Break,” “Transporter 3.”). “Cult” is from Fake Empire and Rockne S. O’Bannon Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.

Matthew Davis also appeared in “What About Brian” on ABC.

Нормальное шоу - история только начала раскручиваться. Ранно его ещё хоронить.

While I am not a fan of CW and its shows I did watch this because I wasn't really sure what it would be about. I was actually impressed with the complexity of the show and the fact that, thus far, it wasn't aimed at just teens. Am I saying it's an awesome show? No, because only 2 episodes have aired but it has major potential to be insanely good if the writing is solid and they don't make stupid decisions. It's most definitely not worthy of such a low 0.3 rating for both episodes. Cult has an edge, it makes very good use of our modern social media age as part of the plot, and I just found the overall plot to be compelling. It's unlike anything else on TV, intricate, convoluted, imaginative, and interesting. I expect that the show was simply over the heads of a huge majority of the normal CW audience and that they just couldn't grasp what it was about and why it's actually inventive. Sorry, I really don't mean to offend most CW show fans but IMO the the vast majority of shows on CW are pretty bland and don't require much in the way of intelligence to understand and follow. Too bad this had to be a show on CW. On a better network that caters to a different audience and with better promoting the show could be a hit.
