Ricky Gervais, the original obnoxious and dimwitted boss (as well as series creator) of The Office has given second life to the character of David Brent. Fans of the original British version of The Office can connect with the character once more in a “mini episode” that will be called “The Office Revisited”.
“It has been 10 years since we last saw David Brent,” said Gervais of the much loved character and show. “I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he’s been up to for the last decade and most importantly what he’s up to now.”
So what exactly is David Brent up to now? Well David is slaving away at a tedious job while still trying to pursue his life’s dream – making it in the music business. “He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now and is living vicariously through a young performer, Dom Johnson,” said Gervais. “Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll. Fans of The Office will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of ‘The Serpent Who Guards the Gates of Hell’ and an amazing Brent self-funded video, ‘Equality Street.’ Horrendous.”
The mini-episode is slated to air on BBC One on March 15th as part of the annual "Comic Relief" charity event, and will be made available to view on Gervais’s Youtube channel on the same day.
