Gemma Bissix returns to Hollyoaks and has promised her character Clare Devine will be “extra evil”.
The actress spoke of her fans response to herself in comparison to her character: “I think because she's such a b****, people really separate me from the character and she affects them so much so I think it surprises them that I'm not like her. I don't know if the fans are scared or what.”
The actress is expected to be back on screen at the end of this month. Show bosses have previously teased that Clare will cause trouble for Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) in her latest storyline.
The former EastEnders star revealed: “The feedback has been really great and everyone's been saying, 'We're going to start watching the show again, it's going to be like old times', stuff like that. So I think it's exciting for people.
The drama that Clare brings, that's what soaps are about; murders, shootings, killings, affairs and this and that and it's quite nice to get a dark edge back to it. I think fans really enjoy that. It's real edgy of your seat stuff.”
Bissix is currently working on a touring production of a Agatha Christie play, 'A Murder Is Announced' alongside former EastEnders star Dean Gaffeney.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
