The third season of AMC's The Walking Dead is slowly building to its big conclusion. Counting this Sunday night's episode, "Clear," there are only five episodes left this season -- and they're probably going to be the show's most intense yet. We are heading toward what we should assume to be The Walking Dead's most violent season finale yet. There's no way the building tensions between Rick's group and Woodbury can end happily for anybody.
If you were one of the zero people who were holding out for Rick and the Governor to reach a truce, though, the synopses released for the final three episodes of the season are here to prove you wrong. Check them out below, courtesy of SpoilerTV:
Episode 3.14 - Prey
The Governor chases a fleeing dissenter; while the Governor is gone, a traitor tries to sabotage his plans.
Episode 3.15 - This Sorrowful Life
Rick and the others learn that if they want a truce with the Governor, they must make a sacrifice.
Episode 3.16 - Welcome to the Tombs
Rick and the others consider the defense of the prison as the Governor's impending attack looms.
There's a lot to read into here. Let's make some educated guesses, shall we? First off, it would be easy to assume that the "fleeting dissenter" of episode 14 is Andrea (Laurie Holden), but my money's on Tyreese (Chad Coleman), who doesn't seem like he'd be too excited about the Governor's violent plan for Rick's group. Andrea's probably the traitor here.
The "sacrifice" mentioned in the synopsis is almost undoubtedly Michonne (Danai Gurira) -- the Governor's war against Rick's group might be seen as entirely driven by his personal (and, really, justifiable) vendetta against the woman that killed his zombified daughter and stabbed him in the eye. He'll probably demand her head from Rick, who will no doubt refuse because the family dynamic within his group even contains the outsider Michonne.
And, of course, it seems like the greater part of the season finale will just be a massive fight scene at the prison. Just as it should be.
What do you think of these synopses?
The Walking Dead will air its next episode, "Clear," Sunday at 9/8c on AMC.
