Is American Horror Story going to be taking a page from Rob Zombie's playbook with its upcoming third season?
It appears that way, if Dylan McDermott is telling the truth. The actor, who appeared in both of the first two seasons of the series, talked to E! recently and revealed that the upcoming season was going to take place in a quaint little town in Massachusetts.
A quaint little town with a bit of a witch problem.
When asked about Kathy Bates recently joining the cast, McDermott called her perfect for the season, saying that, "She really is. All the witches of Salem…there's plenty of them!"
Careful viewers of the second season believed that Salem was the location following "The Name Game," an episode in the third season which the believed creator Ryan Murphy dropped an Easter egg in that revealed where the show was going. The song "I Put a Spell on You" played on a jukebox, leading viewers to believe they had cracked the clue wide open. Of course, viewers also had Salem fever after season one, so maybe Murphy is just giving people what they want.
For what it is worth, Murphy is keeping his mouth closed, as he told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that, "I sorta feel like for the third version I want to do something that’s a little bit more 'evil glamour' ... We're contemplating shooting [Season 3] in a place in the country where true horror has been. We’ve got lots of delicious plans."
What do you think of Salem being the location, if it in fact is?
