Dr. Cox and the creator of “Scrubs” are getting back together.

John C. McGinley will play a boss on Lawrence’s new workplace comedy pilot “Ground Floor” at TBS. “Ground Floor” is written by Lawrence and Greg Malins (“How I Met Your Mother”) and directed by Gail Mancuso (“Modern Family”).
"Ground Floor" is set in corporate America and focuses on a 29- year- old successful alpha male crossing paths with the support staff of his company, who are happy, tight- knit and care- free. McGinley will play boss Mr. Mansfield.
Bill Lawrence also created “Cougar Town,” and is married to Christa Miller, who has appeared in both “Scrubs” and “Cougar Town.”
McGinley appeared as Dr. Perry Cox on “Scrubs” for nine seasons. He was nominated for a TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy.
McGinley recently starred opposite Al Pacino on Broadway in “Glengarry Glen Ross.” That was his return to Broadway after 26 years. He also appeared in “The Rock,” “Platoon,” “Seven,” “Point Break” and “Office Space.”
He will play iconic Brooklyn Dodgers radio broadcaster Red Barber in Warner Bros’ Jackie Robinson film “42.”
McGinley is represented by UTA.
