Sofia the First knows that once is never enough.
The little girl princess, a first for Disney, has been renewed for a second season by Disney. Modern Family's Ariel Winter (whose life appears to have settled down finally) provides the vocal talents for Sofia.
The show airs on the Disney Junior programming block on the Disney Channel and is targeted towards preschoolers. It also airs on the new 24-hour Disney Junior channel.
The series has been a success since launching, as it is cable's top rated show among children aged 2-5, winning both girls and boys in that demographic. It is also the top cable series aimed towards preschoolers in terms of total viewers and the women 18-49 demographic.
The series focuses on Princess Sofia, a little girl who is learning how to behave like a royal after her mommy marries the king. Other vocal cast members include Sara Ramirez, Wayne Brady and Tim Gunn.
"We are so proud of the strong connection our young viewers and their parents have forged with Sofia," said Nancy Kanter, senior vice president original programming and general manager at Disney Junior Worldwide. "While she and her family live in a magical make-believe world, the storytelling and relatable everyday themes have struck a chord with our audience."
