Doctor Who is returning for the second half of its seventh series at the end of this month, and it promises to give us a smattering of great monsters, both new and old. Perhaps the most buzzed-about returning monsters are the Ice Warriors, who last appeared in the 1974 serial "The Monster of Peladon."
The Ice Warriors are Martians, reptilian creatures heavily clad in armor. They're not necessarily villainous (although they can be), and it looks like they'll be at least playing an antagonistic role in the upcoming episode "The Cold War."
"The Cold War" will be set on a submarine in the Arctic (or Antarctic, it's hard to tell), and it looks like the Ice Warriors will show up onboard somehow. The episode, penned by Mark Gatiss, will feature as a guest star Game of Thrones' Liam Cunningham.
Though we glimpsed the Ice Warriors in a poster that came out last month, we've now gotten a full view of these redesigned creatures. You can check the new creature out to the right.
What do you think? Are the Ice Warriors up to your standards? Are you excited for "The Cold War"?
Doctor Who will return on March 30 with its midseries premiere, "Phantom of the Hex," on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US.
