
Jeff Foxworthy will soon be adding another hosting gig to his resume. CBS has signed stand-up comedian Jeff Foxworthy to host the U.S. adaptation of BBC Two’s The Great British Bake Off. The U.S. version will be titles The American Baking Competition, and the network has also landed their panel of judges for the reality competitions series.
The star UK baker and judge of the British series, Paul Hollywood, will join the U.S. installement alongside host of Food Network's Mexican Made Easy, Chef Macela Valladolid. The series will feature skilled amateur bakers competing in challenges that will ultimately result with one competitor being crowned the winner. The reality show is being executive produced by Richard McKerrow and Jay Bienstock and produced by Love Prods.
Foxworthy is known best for his stand-up comedy and “redneck” one-liners he dishes out as part of The Blue Collar Comedy Tour alongside Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White, but also he has some hosting experience under his belt. Foxworthy was the host of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader from September of 2009 until its cancellation in March of 2011. In addition to this, Foxworthy is the current host of the GSN game show The American Bible Challenge
The American Baking Competition will premiere on CBS on May 29th at 8 p.m.
