You've seen them animated. You've seen them in an 8-bit video game! The next logical step? Puppets!
The cast and showrunners of NBC's "Community" announced at a PaleyFest 2013 panel that an upcoming episode of the cult series will feature the actors subbed by puppets.
The episode, set to air in April, will revolve around the study group recounting an awkward adventure in the woods, with the flashbacks starring their fabric-skinned counterparts.
Additionally, showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port teased several upcoming tidbits about the current season, including an arc which sees James Brolin joining the cast in a recurring role as Jeff's long-lost father, as well as Adam Devine ("Workaholics") as Jeff's younger half-brother.
Of course, the panel endured questions about the different tone of the series with Dan Harmon off as showrunner. Guarascio noted that it was always the cast that was the true heart of the show, stating "They give the show its spirit and its life... When they felt (something in) the story needed to be addressed, we felt that (since) they’ve been doing the show the past three years, we’d better listen to them. That’s the approach we took." Given the sheer mediocrity of the season so far, perhaps while the cast is the heart, Harmon was the brains.
As for the rumored fifth season, the cast and crew were mum, claiming to be as in the dark as everyone else. While the current season has featured similarly low ratings as those before, Joel McHale insisted that a fifth season is something everyone on the panel wanted, but it's "one of those things you never hear in advance...(but) believe me, I hope so."
