There are just some actors who have the ability to star in everything. One of those is Mark Pellegrino. Every time I turn around, there is Pellegrino on another TV show. From playing Jacob on “Lost” to portraying Lucifer on “Supernatural,” Pellegrino is one skilled and multi-talented actor. Whether good or bad, he is loved for his roles and fans are always enthused to hear that he scored yet another role on the small screen. Check out some of his work and the many faces that are Mark Pellegrino. Warning: some spoilers are ahead.
1. Jacob on “Lost”
I’m not going to lie, and I will tell you that I’ve never watched “Lost.” When it first came on the air, I tried to watch it, but just lost interest. However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t keep up on the ABC hit drama’s hullabaloo. For example, when Pellegrino made his debut as Jacob on the mysterious J.J. Abrams series, I became curious as to who this Jacob was, especially his relationship with the Man in Black (Titus Welliver) and Ben (Michael Emerson). From what I heard, fans enjoyed Pellegrino’s performance on the show, and were sad to see him go. Maybe I’ll have to give the show another shot, because I sure do love me some Mark Pellegrino.
2. Lucifer on “Supernatural”
I first fell in love with Pellegrino when he portrayed Lucifer on The CW hit “Supernatural.” He played an amazing part as the “angel” who sought out to make Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester’s (Jensen Ackles) life hell - no pun intended - and to ensure the Apocalypse happened. For those who don’t watch the show, the famous brother duo managed to stop Lucifer, but he still played a major part in making Sam go crazy, as Sam continued to see hallucinations of Lucifer. He is no longer on the show, but for about four seasons Pellegrino rocked the part.
3. Bishop on “Being Human”
On Syfy’s “Being Human,” Pellegrino used his “Supernatural” experiences to play vampire James Bishop in 13 episodes. While a vampire, he also portrayed a Boston policeman, and in flashbacks, an American soldier in the Civil War. Bishop was an antagonist on the show, and was eventually killed by decapitation in Season 1. Once again, Pellegrino appeared as a hallucination on the show’s second season.
4. Daniel Drake on “Person of Interest”
Pellegrino appeared in one episode of this season’s “Person of Interest,” and it was well worth it. He played publisher Daniel Drake who hired a hitman to kill his wife; however, at the same time his wife also hired someone to kill her husband. Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) definitely had their hands full with the feisty couple. For “Lost” fans it was probably nice to see Pellegrino and Emerson reunited.
5. Jarold Kempfer on “Grimm”
If I couldn’t love “Grimm” anymore than I already did, it became possible when it was announced Pellegrino would guest star on the NBC thriller. In “Grimm’s” second season, Pellegrino played a Wesen (creatures visible to Grimms) called a Coyotl, or a coyote like creature, named Jarold Kempfer. After his daughter is kidnapped, Jarold enlists help from Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) to get her back. It’s actually a thrilling episode, and I recommend watching it. Why is Pellegrino so damn good in supernatural series? I think he needs his own show.
6. Jeremy Baker on “Revolution”
NBC’s new hit series “Revolution,” which comes back March 25 (about time), highlighted Pellegrino’s badass and evil qualities as Jeremy Baker. Baker is part of the Monroe Militia, and it was revealed that he learned everything he knows about killing from the series protagonist Miles Matheson (Billy Burke). He definitely created a mess for the main characters, and I hope it’s not the last we’ve seen from him.
7. Gavin Q. Baker on “The Closer”
On TNT’s former hit drama “The Closer” starring the talented Kyra Sedgwick, Pellegrino changed it up from his supernatural roles, and played Brenda’s (Sedgwick) gay attorney, Gavin Q. Baker. He was a former city attorney-turned-partner in a private law firm that specialized in defending police officer who never lost a case. Sadly, we only got to seem in the final season of the series, but it’s better than nothing.
8. Patrick Vikan on “Prison Break”
On FOX’s short lived series “Prison Break,” Pellegrino graced the show in only two episodes as Patrick Vikan. In Season 4, his character showed up, and it was revealed at some point in his life he worked at The Company, a secret group of multinational corporate alliances. As short lived as the series, Vikan was killed in his second episode, after a deal ended badly.
9. Paul Bennett on “Dexter”
Pellegrino starred as Paul Bennett on Showtime’s killer drama “Dexter,” which showcases everybody’s favorite serial killer (Michael C. Hall). Pellegrino portrayed Rita’s (Julie Benz) abusive second ex-husband. After being released from prison, Paul harassed, abused and made Rita’s life a living hell. Pellegrino only appeared in eight episodes, which probably made “Dexter” fans happy, as he didn’t play that nice of a guy.
10. Sadik Marku on “Without a Trace”
In two episodes of “Without a Trace,” Pellegrino played Sadik Marku, an Albanian mob boss whose mistress and son go missing. The great part about his role is he starred alongside fellow “Supernatural” actor Mark Sheppard, who plays everybody’s favorite demon, Crowley.
If you’re missing Pellegrino on your TV have no fear, because he will soon be heading back to his CW roots by co-starring on the network’s new pilot “The Tomorrow People” as evil Dr. Jedikiah Price.
