After nearly two decades apart, Axel Foley and Billy Rosewood are riding together once again.
CBS has ordered a Beverly Hills Cop pilot based off of the film franchise. It will not be a reboot of the films, but rather build off them, as it will be set in 2013 and focus on the son of Axel Foley (played by Eddie Murphy), who is trying to escape from his father's large shadow and history.
Murphy had already signed on to the pilot and could recur if the series goes forward. Now his partner in (stopping) crime, Judge Reinhold, is back in the picture as well.
Reinhold played Foley's partner Billy Rosewood in the movies and will be reprising his role, although he is now a lot higher up in the Los Angeles Police Department than he was previously.
Reinhold could also recur if the series goes forward past the pilot. As of now, Rosewood will only appear in the pilot briefly, in a scene with the Foleys.
While both men are on board, the star of the pilot is Brandon T. Jackson, who is playing Aaron Foley.
Murphy and Reinhold starred together in all three of the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
Also attached to the pilot are Christine Lahti, David Denman, Kevin Pollak and Sheila Vand.
What do you think about this? I think if Murphy became series regular, this show could do great numbers.
