The original Carrie Bradshaw had less than encouraging words to say about The CW’s version of her younger self in a recent interview. Sarah Jessica Parker played Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City for six seasons on HBO, and so it does not come as a huge surprise that she is a little bit protective of the character of Carrie. When she was asked what she thought about AnnaSophia Robb’s portrayal of a younger Carrie, and the CW’s prequel show, Parker seemed to struggle to find the right words.
“"I'm not sure... You know, I think it's one of those tests of your generosity. She is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it's... odd." said Parker. Ouch, that cannot be easy for the young actress to hear, but she does have some big shoes to fill.
Speaking of shoes, Parker also dispensed some hard-learned advice for Robb about taking care of her feet. "For ten or so years, I literally ran in heels. I worked 18-hour days and never took them off," Parker said. "The moral of the story is, the chickens are coming home to roost. It's sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, 'You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop — and don't put cheap shoes on us?'"
I doubt that Robb has much control over her footwear on the series, but I also doubt that Carrie Diaries will last into its tenth year on television.
How do you think Robb’s performance stacks up against Parker’s?
