Sarah Jessica Parker says 'Carrie Diaries' is "odd"

Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw

The original Carrie Bradshaw had less than encouraging words to say about The CW’s version of her younger self in a recent interview. Sarah Jessica Parker played Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City for six seasons on HBO, and so it does not come as a huge surprise that she is a little bit protective of the character of Carrie. When she was asked what she thought about AnnaSophia Robb’s portrayal of a younger Carrie, and the CW’s prequel show, Parker seemed to struggle to find the right words.

“"I'm not sure... You know, I think it's one of those tests of your generosity. She is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it's... odd." said Parker. Ouch, that cannot be easy for the young actress to hear, but she does have some big shoes to fill.

Speaking of shoes, Parker also dispensed some hard-learned advice for Robb about taking care of her feet. "For ten or so years, I literally ran in heels. I worked 18-hour days and never took them off," Parker said. "The moral of the story is, the chickens are coming home to roost. It's sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, 'You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop — and don't put cheap shoes on us?'"

I doubt that Robb has much control over her footwear on the series, but I also doubt that Carrie Diaries will last into its tenth year on television.

How do you think Robb’s performance stacks up against Parker’s?

- The Carrie Diaries
- Sex and the City
- AnnaSophia Robb
- Sarah Jessica Parker
- CW

I think Anna Sofia is really suitable for the part, and the series are pretty decent! Despite the fact that the network is not HBO, she does real justice to Carrie Bradshaw character, whatsoever. And the other cast is pretty good,,as well. why does Sara think it's odd? After all, it's about a teenager, how on earth does she compare the current show with the old one? Come what may, the books are page-turners, and both shows are really entertaining!

She's pretty damn good. Would be a lot better, as would the show itself, if had the benefit of being in a show written and procuced by and for HBO, like Parker did, so it's easy to judge. I would have liked to see Sarah Jessica parker deal with her show writen and produced by and for a crappy network. Apples and oranges, folks. I LOVE Sarah Jessica, but Meryl Streep, she ain't either. Right?
