The star of comedian Keegan Michael Key continues to rise.
You may know Key from his appearances on Reno 911, which led to him landing his own Comedy Central series, Key and Peele. Now Key is sliding over to USA, where he will star in a new untitled comedy from Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair (Best Friends Forever).
The series is a single-camera semi-autobiographical comedy. Parham plays Maggie, a newly single parent who asks her best friend Emma (St. Clair) to help her raise her newest addition.
Key will play Mark, a police officer who has some bitterness towards Emma as she turned down his marriage proposal when they were both 23. The following day she took off.
Brad Morris is also joining the series. He will play Bruce, Maggie's husband who is caught red-handed, so to speak, having online sex during her baby shower. Morris has appeared on Modern Family and Cougar Town.
At this point, it is not entirely clear what Key's role will be in the series if it goes forward, as Key and Peele is his top commitment and a breakout hit at Comedy Central. USA must feel comfortable that he can appear though if they were willing to add him to the cast.
Zach Woods is also part of the cast, in an unnamed role.
