NBC is considering placing a late pilot order to a comedy project hailing from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s production company Gary Sanchez Prods with the help of actress Anne Heche (Save Me). The pilot, a single-camera comedy called Bad Judge, is reportedly entirely dependent upon the networks ability to land former Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh for the lead role.
The pilot, written by Chad Kultgen (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) was brought to the attention of Gary Sanchez by Heche. Bad Judge follows the story of a “hard-living, sexually unapologetic woman who plays with the law, and whose life on the edge is constantly in balance as she also happens to be a judge in the Criminal Court system.” The role could be very well suited for Walsh, who has good comedic timing and the ability to present a harsh exterior.
The pilot is being produced by Universal TV with Heche and Jill Messick executive producing alongside Ferrell and McKay. Bad Judge would be the second comedy pilot from Gary Sanchez at NBC (the other being the hot prospect Assistance) if the network picks it up.
Walsh’s series Private Practice ended in January after six seasons, and since then she has been pursued by multiple comedy pilots. Walsh has worked with McKay and Ferrell previously, having done several videos for them on their comedy website Funny Or Die.
