Well, that certainly cannot be how they wanted things to get started.
Greg Daniels and Robert Padnick are developing a new comedy at NBC that will focus on a group of twentysomethings and the difficulty they face trying to date and find their soul mates.
The project had Josh Rabinowitz lined up to be the star of the series. The actor, who has appeared on MTV's I Just Want My Pants Back and a bunch of CollegeHumor original shorts, has decided to shift his attention in a different direction, however. He will be focusing on Legion of Goons, a sketch pilot he co-created and will star in, along with six members of a comedy group that goes by the same name. Giving up a network pilot for a sketch pilot on cable (Comedy Central)? A risky move.
Rabinowitz was going to star as Matthew Hirsch, a vulnerable man that relies on his three best friends for emotional support.
The other members of the Legion of Goons are Kevin Barnett, Jennifer Bartels, Lil' Rel Howery, Jermaine Fowler, Kenny Lucas and Keith Lucas.
Comedy Central had given Rabinowitz the green light to pursue both projects, but I guess Rabinowitz decided this was more to his liking.
Would you have made the same move?
