Jane Kaczmarek has found a new TV child.

Kaczmarek, who starred in “Malcolm in the Middle,” will return to Fox co- starring in its comedy pilot “Friends and Family.”
The half- hour comedy is an adaptation of BBC series “Gavin & Stacey.” It focuses on how friends and family are both the best support and worst nightmare for two people from different worlds get together and try to have a long- distance relationship.
Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”) will play Gavin, and Kaczmarek will play his mother Pam. Pam is overbearing without a filter on her mouth. She is married to Michael (played by Kurt Fuller, “No Holds Barred”).
Alexis Bledel plays Stacey. Bledel recently appeared on “Mad Men” as a sad housewife who had an affair with Vincent Kartheiser’s Pete. She has also recently been filming “Remember Sunday,” a film also starring Zachary Levi (“Chuck”).
Ritter recurred on “Parenthood” on NBC opposite Lauren Graham, Bledel’s “Gilmore Girls” co- star.
James Cordon and Ruth Jones will exec produce, as they were to when NBC tried its hand at remaking this show in 2008. ABC also ordered a pilot in 2009, but a year later it was canceled. David Rosen will exec produce and write.
