Fans of Community have registered mixed reactions regarding the show's currently airing fourth season. Many, including myself, have seen the show take a marked dip in quality, while others see the changes as less negative. Members of the cast -- including Danny Pudi and Alison Brie, both of whom I spoke to a few weeks ago -- seem relatively enthusiastic about the rest of the season. Danny Pudi, particularly, seems excited about tonight's episode of the series, "Advanced Documentary Filmmaking."
The episode will apparently be a thematic follow-up to "Introduction to Film," "Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking," and "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux," in that it will see Abed go behind the camera -- this time, as the group attempts to determine what exactly happened to Chang. Will they solve his Changnesia?
It does seem like the series is treading over old ideas that have already been done before, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Danny Pudi certainly appears to like it, if only for practical reasons: "I’m relieved when it’s not an Abed centric episode when we do, for instance, a documentary episode I’m excited that I’m behind the camera literally in the episode because it allows me a week to not have to memorize monologues from a movie that I haven’t seen," he told reporters in a conference call a few weeks back.
