'Gavin & Stacey' featured James Corden, Mathew Horne, Ruth Jones and Joanne Page. It proved to be one of the most successful BBC sitcoms of all time, making the successful transition from BBC Three to BBC One. Since the last full episode aired in 2010, the show has constantly been rumoured to be returning. Although an American remake is in the pipeline, James Corden has since brought his character Smithy back for a sketch in 2011 and it has now been confirmed he will also be back in tonight’s telethon.
The telethon begins at 7pm on BBC One tonight. Sketches already confirmed forming part of the broadcast include new mini-sodes of 'The Office' and 'The Vicar of Dibley' - two other BBC comedies that have ceased broadcasting. 'Britain's Got Talent' 'Call The Midwife', 'EastEnders' and 'Russell Howard's Good News' have also got new episodes airing as part of the charity telethon.
Will Ferrell has also filmed a new sketch for the show in the guise of his 'Anchorman' movie character Ron Burgundy. The cast are currently filming the follow-up to 'Anchorman' due to be released December 20th and is currently unknown which if any of his co-stars will be joining him in the sketch.
