A true crime storing involving a female suspect? Who did not see Lifetime jumping all over it?
The trial of Jodi Arias is still going on and doing well in the ratings race for HLN, which has devoted a lot of coverage to it. Now comes word that Lifetime is hard at work preparing a telepic about Arias and her case.
Arias, an Arizona native, is accused of murdering an ex-boyfriend. She allegedly killer her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008. His body was found with gunshots to the head, multiple stab wounds and a slit throat (Note to self: Do not wrong Jodi Arias.). In recent weeks, the amount of coverage the trial has received has skyrocketed after being low profile in the news.
Lifetime has done really well in the ratings for three films it has done in the last two years involving true crime - Drew Peterson: Untouchable, Abducted: The Carlina White Story and Prosecuting Casey Anthony. Slowly the brand is evolving with more original series, but these true crime movies remain its bread and butter.
The film is being developed by Joshua D. Maurer, Alixandre Witlin and Judith Verno, who worked together on the Peterson film. They have also teamed up on Lifetime's The Craigslist Killer and Hallmark's Who Is Clark Rockefeller?
