New 'Game of Thrones' season 3 trailer is the most exciting one yet

There's really no reason, at this point, for you to not be excited about Game of Thrones season 3. If you've read the books upon which the series is based, you know exactly what thrills the season has in store. If you haven't read the books, the trailers for the upcoming season should still have you chomping at the bit for the season premiere on March 31.

The latest trailer, simply titled "The Beast," is a quick look at where many of our main characters will be when the third season starts up. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is building a rather formidable-looking army. Robb (Richard Madden) is winning every battle but losing the war, while Stannis (Stephen Dillane) is seething that the events of "Blackwater" have essentially put him out of the war. Jon (Kit Harington) is on his undercover mission with the Wildlings, where he meets King-Beyond-the-Wall Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds) and further develops his relationship with Ygritte (Rose Leslie). We only get brief check-ins with other major characters, like Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Arya (Maisie Williams), Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Oh, and there's one guy who is chained to a rack with a bag over his head. Book fans know who it is (it looks like we'll get to see him before season 5!), but for those who don't, let's just put it this way -- who did we last see in the season 2 finale with a bag over his head?

It's going to be a busy season, which means that it will probably be the show's best one yet. I know there are certain scenes I can't wait to see play out, but really my anticipation stems from getting to spend time with these characters again.

Game of Thrones season 3 premieres March 31 with the episode "Valar Dohaeris" on HBO. Check out the "Beast" trailer below.
