The Angry Birds are taking Canada (Insert Canadians equal Bad Piggies joke here).
Based on the popular computer game franchise which took iPads and iPhones by storm when it was released a few years ago, a new cartoon series called Angry Birds Toons has been added to Canadian cartoon cable channel Teletoon's Saturday morning broadcast schedule. The series comes from Finnish producer Rovio Entertainment, the creators of the video games.
Fifty-two animated episodes have been created as of now and all of them are part of this deal. Teletoon will have the exclusive rights to air these episodes to the Canadian market for the forseable future.
The first episode of Angry Birds Toons aired on Teletoon two days ago. The battles between the Angry Birds and the Bad Piggies will also be available for viewing on Teletoon's website.
The series will also air on Comcast's U.S. video platforms, including Xfinity on Demand, the Xfinity TV Player app and online at Xfinity.com/tv.
Teletoon made news earlier this month when Corus Entertainment reached an agreement to purchase the remaining stake in the company that it did not already own.
Cartoons are not really my bad, but my son loves the Angry Birds games and I am sure will want to watch this series. If he finds out about it, of course. What about you? Will you give it a chance?
