Pop star Rihanna is one of the most polarizing figures in entertainment today. I know quite a few people (women, mostly) who at one time considered themselves fans of hers but have let that fandom lapse now following her decision to get back together with Chris Brown after he savagely beat her a few years ago.
Even with her decreased fan base, Fox is still betting of Rihanna to deliver viewers. The network has secured the exclusive worldwide premiere rights to her upcoming concert documentary Rihanna 777. The documentary will air on Monday, May 6.
Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes, all-access look at her tour which took her to seven countries in seven days to promote her seventh album, Unapologetic (a reference to her getting back together with Brown).
Using a 777 jet filled with more than 250 fans and international journalists, the star flew from Mexico City to Toronto to Stockholm to Paris to Berlin to London and ended in New York City.
Unapologetic debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, “Diamonds,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after the tour ended.
Some believe this is an attempt to get Rihanna in the Fox fold if she decides to do any work on a singing reality series. These shows are worth a lot of money and I could definitely see her doing one.
