If I had to make a list of television couples that made me fall in love with their relationship, the husband-wife dynamic portrayed by Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler on Friday Night Lights would rank at the top. The chemistry that these two had made me truly believe they could be a married couple, and they were the heart and soul of Friday Night Lights. Chandler has focused most of his energy lately on films, but has recently been cast in a lead role in the pilot series The Vatican, while Britton is one of the stars of the hit series Nashville.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter recently, Britton explained how she always knew Chandler would return to television. "I always knew he'd come back," said Britton, who earned an Emmy nomination for her role as Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights. Britton also went on to share her enthusiasm over Chandler’s new role as Cardinal Thomas Duffy in The Vatican. "I'm so excited for him," said Britton. "But you know what's weird? I have no idea what kind of character he's playing in The Vatican -- but I always said to he should play some kind of religious zealot. So hopefully he's playing some kind of religious zealot!"
Chandler’s role on The Vatican will mark his first small-screen regular role since Friday Night Lights ended its five-season run on NBC. Britton ruled out any chance of the two reuniting on her ABC musical series Nashville, but promises that you will see them together again. "You're going to see both of us back on TV together," she said. "We keep talking about how we have to wait a certain amount of years and then we can go back to working together again."
