The UK's Channel 4 is poised to get in on the zombie game -- well-behaved French zombies, that is.

The network announced today that it has bought the rights to broadcast the original French supernatural series "Rebound."
The series (originally titled "Les Revenants" on original broadcaster Canal+) is centered in a small Alpine village which experiences a small group of long-deceased men, women, and children who seemingly return from the dead with no memory of their demise. Their attempts to reclaim their places with loved ones is complicated by a series of chilling local murders which casts doubt and suspicion on the returned.
The unique series is backed up by a soundtrack from Scottish progressive rock band Mogwai. The eight-part series is written by Fabrice Gobert ("Lights Out") and Frederic Mermout, deftly mixing drama, murder mystery, and supernatural elements.
"This powerful and innovative French series is already one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The first fully subtitled drama that we have broadcast in 20 years, everything about 'Rebound' feels very Channel 4; visceral, compelling and incredibly contemporary, the creators have taken the supernatural genre and re-written the rules," said Channel 4's chief creative officer Jay Hunt. "It is evidence not just of a creative high point in European drama, but of Channel 4′s willingness to bring audiences the best and most challenging programs."
Caroline Benjo, producer at Haut et Court, the studio which backed the original series, added: "The universal appeal of the series that deals with very intimate issues will find in Channel 4 — the most idiosyncratic and innovative broadcasters in England — the perfect home."
The series is set to air on Channel 4 later this summer. Check out the atmospheric trailer below -- this one looks like a winner!
