Two new 'Game of Thrones' sneak peeks are scorching in entirely different ways
Game of Thrones season 3 is set to premiere at the end of this month, and while the season as a whole promises to be quite riveting, buzz surrounding the first episode seems to be more reserved -- it's going to be laying down a lot of important groundwork, according to some critics, without too much excitement. My question, however, is this: how much more exciting can you get than Tyrion insulting Cersei?
The season 2 premiere featured some crackling dialogue between the siblings, and a sneak peek of the season 3 premiere reveals Tyrion once again delivering some -- how do the kids say it? -- sick burns to the Queen Regent. The thirty-second clip will undoubtedly have Game of Thrones fans chuckling, and maybe even fist-pumping, as Cersei gives Tyrion some grade-A condescension, which he deflects with his master wit.
Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys has no need of insults or wit -- she needs an army. As she and Ser Jorah watch her three dragons (the CGI isn't perfect, but it'll do) catching some fish and cooking them with flame-breath, Daenerys remarks that her dragons aren't quite growing quickly enough to mount a formidable takeover of Westeros. "I need an army," she tells Ser Jorah -- and she'll get one, if any of the teasers for the third season are proof at all.
Check out both teasers below. Game of Thrones will air its third season premiere episode, "Valar Dohaeris," March 31 at 9/8c on HBO.
