MTV draws a lot of criticism these days for the fact that the only music to be found on the network is that which fills its crappy reality programs. We want music videos, dammit! Or at least live performances, a staple of the network 20 years ago that seems like a forgotten thing these days.
MTV Jams is doing its part to change that. While not the flagship station of the MTV empire, it is still a start. The network will be airing a 48-hour live performance marathon beginning this Saturday. Dubbed Jams Live Weekend, it will include never before seen performances from Trinidad James, Travi$ Scott, Joey Bada$$ and Pusha T.
In addition to those people (that I have never heard of), the weekend will also feature live hip-hop performances from the MTV vault, including MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Movie Awards and MTV Spring Break, to name a few.
Jams Live Weekend will begin at 6 a.m. ET this Saturday and run through 6 a.m. on Monday, March 25.
Fans will get an all-access pass to the MTV Jams stage from the SXSW Festival that occurred last weekend in Austin, Texas. It was the site of the mtvU Woodies Awards and Festival.
