Watch the first trailer for AMC's new drama 'Low Winter Sun'
It's been almost a year and a half since AMC premiered its last new drama series, Hell on Wheels, but it looks like the network has finally decided to add another scripted series to the lineup (enough with the reality fare, AMC!). That new series is this summer's Low Winter Sun, a police drama that promises plenty of intrigue and suspense.
The series is based off the 2006 British series of the same name, following a detective who kills a fellow cop. It seemed like the perfect crime, but before long it sets into motion events that will pull him further and futher across the dividing line between cop and criminal.
Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass, Zero Dark Thirty) will star as the lead character, a role he originated in the original British series. He'll be joined by Lennie James, with whom AMC audiences are already very familiar -- just a few weeks ago on The Walking Dead, he returned as the character Morgan and delivered the show's best performance to date. James will play another detective who is just as guilty as our protagonist -- and much less trustworthy.
Low Winter Sun has been confirmed by AMC for a ten-episode first season.
The trailer for the new series has just been released, and it looks rather awesome. If I had to guess, the series will likely accompany the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad when that series returns this summer.
