A Fox’s Navy drama pilot is stuck on shore.
“The Wild Blue” will now film during the typical March- May pilot season window.
Country star Tim McGraw and studio Sony Pictures Television were in deep negotiations to star in the drama and they were considering alternate filming options to allow McGraw to maintain his tour schedule.
McGraw, from Nashville, reportedly wanted an East Coast shoot, and the network and studio wanted a Los Angeles hub. McGraw is now out.
Creators Elmore Taylor and Graham Yost (“Justified”) will also write and co- exec produce the Sony Pictures Television drama alongside Mark Johnson and Michael Dinner. Melissa Bernstein will also co- executive produce, and Dinner will direct. Will Rotthaar (“Battle: Los Angeles”), Gina Rodriguez, Josh Salatin (“The Carrie Diaries”), Alano Miller (“Damages”) and Mykelti Williamson (“Justified”) will co- star.
“Wild Blue” is the third pilot thus far this season to be rolled out of the traditional March- May pilot cycle. NBC’s “Donor Party” got delayed from problems finding its lead. “Wonderland,” a modern- day “Alice in Wonderland” drama from Anthony Zuiker was also postponed in order to give it more time with complex visual effects.
