The replacement for Majandra Delfino on ABC's new comedy pilot Keep Calm and Karey On has been cast and viewers of CBS' How I Met Your Mother will likely know the new leading lady.
Ashley Williams has signed on to play Penny, the self-focused sister of main character Karey (played by Kelly Preston). Williams played Ted's ex-girlfriend, "cupcake girl" Victoria, on the CBS series.
Karey's entire family is a bunch of lowlives - a collection of thieves, addicts and egotists. Her brother is sent to prison and she makes an effort to raise his children and her adopted African-American son in a positive manner that takes them away from the life they have known.
The pilot is being written by Andrea Abbate (Accidentally on Purpose) for 20th Television. Shawn Levy, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will executive produce the pilot, with Gail Mancuso attached to direct the single-camera comedy.
Other co-stars already announced include Jane Seymour, Ella Anderson, Steve Talley, Isaac White and Haley Lu Richardson.
Williams, in addition to her time on HIMYM, has appeared on NBC's Good Morning, Miami, and also appeared on series such as Royal Pains, The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Protector, Warehouse 13 and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
