A new video game that tells the tale of Daryl and Merle Dixon as they make their way towards Atlanta during the early days of the zombie apocalypse seen on AMC's hit series, The Walking Dead, released this week to a lot of anticipation from fans of the series. Adding to this appeal was the fact that a different video game developed last year by Telltale Games but set in the same Walking Dead universe was critically acclaimed, drawing some votes as the best game of 2012.
Well, this new game, titled The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, was developed by Terminal Reality and is more of a ground out than a home run, as critics have been shredding the title and tearing it limb from limb. Here is a video of that, which I have to warn you has some saucy language that you may not want others to hear, as this reviewer is not particularly happy with the product.
This is pretty much par for the course with reviewers so far, as the game has a 36% rating currently on MetaCritic. Even having Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker provide voice work on the game could not save it, unfortunately.
In the game, players play as Daryl, which obviously would be pretty appealing. Daryl can either fight the dead or try to sneak past them. Along the way he meets other survivors and tries to make his meager supplies last. It seems like this game was rushed out, to try to catch some fans of the series off guard.
It seems like you would be better off just pretending and coming up with your own version of how Daryl met Rick than playing this rubbish.
