As the late-night line-up continues to evolve and reports roll in saying the NBC plans to replace Jay leno with Jimmy Fallon as the host of The Tonight Show, NBC is now reportedly eyeing long-time SNL player Seth Meyers to take over Fallon’s timeslot.
A source has said that SNL boss and creator Lorne Michaels wants Meyers to be Fallon’s successor. “It would be perfect for him,” says the source. “Tina Fey’s name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it.”
So far NBC reps have declined to comment on the report and emails have been sent to Meyers’ rep looking for answers to no avail. Last summer, Meyers was rumoured to be getting ready to co-host Live! with Kelly Ripa, which the actor denied. The fact that there has been no response or denial from the Meyers’ camp may be a sign the rumour mill turned up something true this time.
Meyers is not the first television name that has been mentioned to take the reins from Fallon. Earlier in the month, The New York Post reported that NBC was taking a close look at radio host and America’s Got Talent judge Howard Stern for the gig.
Who would you rather see take over Jimmy’s spot on late-night television: Seth Meyers or Howard Stern?
