Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead saw what was likely the ending of any quiet character development in the show's third season. It humanized Merle, gave Daryl an utterly fantastic scene, and most importantly marked the end of the Ricktatorship that had been introduced in the season 3 finale. Now it's time for the fight that they've all been preparing for.
"Welcome to the Tombs," the season 3 finale, airs on Sunday, and promises to be a highly bloody affair. New promotional photos from the episode, naturally, give us no looks at the violence, but instead at moments just before. In the first, Carl considers his father's sheriff's badge in a scene that will likely have thematic consequences. The second, meanwhile, shows Rick himself, looking like he's ready to assault the Governor's forces from behind a bush.
The anticipation for this episode is certainly the highest of any episode of the series since, perhaps, the first. What do you think? Are you excited for "Welcome to the Tombs" and the bloodbath it promises?
The episode airs Sunday at 9/8c on AMC.
