Noel Fielding's 'Luxury Comedy' to return later this year, Channel 4 confirms

The absurd British comedy series Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy is undoubtedly one of the most unapologetically insane shows currently running on television -- and yes, it is still on television.

The series, which stars Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh) as many different and bizarre characters, was renewed for a second season after its first series aired early last year. Since then, though, the show hasn't been mentioned; troublingly, it was absent from Channel 4's list of upcoming summer programming.

We contacted Channel 4 to make sure that Luxury Comedy hadn't been secretly cancelled (we would have blamed Ice Cream Eyes). Thankfully, the network assuaged our fears: as it turns out, the series has just been pushed back.

Filming for series 2 will reportedly begin in the summer, with the series to air on the network later in the year.

Consider yourself safe for now, Ice Cream Eyes.

Luxury Comedy stars Noel Fielding, as well as Michael Fielding, Tom Meeten, Dolly Wells, Rich Fulcher, and Richard Ayoade, and features a massive repertoire of insane, occasionally terrifying characters such as The Audience, Fantasy Man, Secret Peter, and Doo Rag. You can watch the first episode here.

I never leave reviews, not my thing, but I have attempted to watch the trailers of this programme, it seems the idea is to replace comedy with absurdity and call it the same thing. Much like russell brand, its never made me laugh, not once. I like my comedy to be truly smart, not pretending to be and have some thought in its process, not just a confusion of plot and verbal diarrhoea designed to illustrate the difference between us and them. I get it, I know what they are all talking about, i'm not impressed by the verbal linguistics or how clever they all are. Clever is putting together something that has intellectual strength, this does not. Just my opinion.

Kinda wish I had a "Like" button in these comments, ´cause it makes me happy to agree with different perspectives, the positive ones, that is! :) LOVE from Denmark

I wasn't sure about the show...I didn't like most of the 1st episode....but episode 2? That was some beautifully crazy shit. The ghost of the flea singing his birthday song.....the journey to see the jelly fox, and poking fun at all the pretentious shit that goes on in the art world ( which is just as nuts in real life, I've seen people wander into art class dressed as sailors...and seen someone paint himself blue as his art alter ego...mental) I'm very pleased it came back for a second series. I'd have been much happier with a new series of Boosh but I'll take what I can get.

At first, I wasn't too sure about this show. I watched the whole season and I still wasn't quite sure. I had a few good laughs and a few things were genius but there was a lot of stuff I felt did not work. However, after watching the whole thing, I could not stop thinking about it. I rewatched wverything and I loved it. Dondylion and Fantasy Man were quite touching characters and I loved the parts in the treehouse with Noel, Andy, Dolly and Smooth. Now, I can't wait for season 2!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the hate towards this show. Yes it's weird and I get how some people can not like it because they can't follow it, but it's brilliantly written and the acting is actually really good. Maybe it's because I'm from Canada and most of the stuff on TV nowadays is terrible reality shit or some poorly scripted comedy show. Perhaps British TV would be much better for me, but in my opinion Luxury Comedy is amazing

I'm hoping for some guests this series. He had quite a few magical team ups on Buzzcocks last series, I'd like to see them more fleshed out on Luxury Comedy. MouseCat comes to mind...

Noel Fielding. He's wanking in your face, and if you're too dumb to see through the conceit, more fool you!

Delighted to hear it's coming back, although Series 1 was a lot stranger than the Mighty Boosh or any of his other work, it was still brilliant. I've heard him in interviews from the end of last year saying that this season will be more story based though, and not as much random sketches just thrown together, which shall be interesting to see the new characters interact in a story setting. All I can say is that i'm very much excited to be blessed with great TV from Mr. Fielding yet again

Well i think it was fantastic. It was worth watching the music alone. Why has it never been repeated though? You would of thought E4 could easily find a space for it. Top programme

I'm 48 and I get it. It all makes sense and it all makes me laugh. Fantasy Man makes me laugh like a small child, do you know how important that is when you're 48?
