In the wake of CNN’s big revamp under the new management of President Jeff Zucker, a familiar duo may get their very own television show together. If you like CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage each year, then you should be pretty excited about this news.
Deadline originally reported that yesterday Cooper and Griffin, who co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage together every year, were filming a pilot at the CNN studios in New York. While few details about the project are available, we do know that it was filmed in front of a live studio audience.
Cooper currently juggles a busy schedule, hosting his daily evening news show Anderson Cooper 360 while wrapping up his second and final season of his daytime talk show Anderson Live at the same time. On top of this, Cooper was recently named as one of several celebrity replacements for Alex Trebek should he decide to retire from his Jeopardy! hosting duties come 2014. Griffin hosts her weekly talk show, Kathy, on Bravo. The annual New Year’ Eve broadcast featuring Cooper and Griffin draws in consistently good ratings for CNN, and is always unpredictable (if you all can recall Griffin’s relentless pursuit of Cooper’s most private parts on live television this past New Year’s Eve…).
