American Idol judge and country music star Keith Urban has admitted before that he does not think he could be an Idol contestant. "The very first thing you are going to do on this show is walk into a room, see the four of us and have to sing with no band, no microphone, no nothing," Urban told People magazine. "No other show does that. That has got to be tough. I don't know that I could do it." Despite his reservations, Urban is going to leave his protective perch behind the judges table and perform a song on stage during tonight’s American Idol results show.
Urban took to his Twitter account last night to break the news, tweeting “Psyched to play tomorrow night on #Idol.... I hope Randy and the girls put me through !!! -KU #IdolKU." I am not sure that country music is really Randy’s style, but I think he will be a hit among judges across the board.
Urban is gearing up himself for a life of performance, as he is heading out on the open road this summer on his “Light The Fuse” tour. Joining Urban for tonight’s results show, which is the reality programs 450th episode, will be a number of other performers. Season 11 finalist Colton Dixon will take the stage once more, and season 5 runner up and star of the NBC show Smash Katharine McPhee will be singing a duet with One Republic of their new single “If I Lose Myself”.
Are you going to be tuning in for the star-studded performance on American Idol tonight?
