Joseph Gordon-Levitt is all over the place right now – and I just can’t get enough. I don’t think it is much of a stretch to say that anything that Levitt acts in, touches, or looks at right now turns to gold, and the actor has decided to go back to his roots in television for his next project. Levitt got his big break on the quirky TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun, but his return to television wont having him acting as an awkward alien in the body of a teenage boy. Levitt is creating and hosting his very own variety show based on his collaborative site, hitReCord, for the new Participant Media network Pivot.
The series will be called, simply, hitReCord on TV!, and will feature contributions such as films, live performances and animations from the online community. Levitt will select, edit together and present on air those pieces which he likes best. The announcement about the show was made yesterday by the network, which is expected to launch August 1st, at its upfront presentation in New York City.
In a video released by Levitt about the new show, he says “’Hit RECord on TV’ is gonna be a new kind of variety show. I'll host the show and also direct our global online community to create short films, live performances, music, animation, conversation, and of course, more! Each episode will be focused on a different theme. And like always, anybody with an internet connection is invited to contribute.”
